Elina Maslo is Doctor of Pedagogy (Dr.paed.), an associate professor of the University of Latvia, who is working in Denmark now (Danish School of Education, University of Aarhus). Elina has been a Danish language teacher in Latvia since 1994 and made research on learning Danish as a foreign language with the aim to define the “lifelong foreign language learning”. Her dissertation “Development of adolescents’ learning abilities within the Danish language studies” was defended in 2003. Elina is fascinated of learning, learning processes and those in many different contexts – transformative learning spaces. During many years of research on lifelong foreign language learning with very different groups of learners, she found some criteria, which make learning process successful. Since then she has tried to find some other examples on “successful learning” from the formal, informal and non-formal learning environments, trying to prove those criteria. Because of this big interest in different learning processes and success on learning, Elina joined the research network on workplace learning, where a research on compulsory and voluntary participation in learning at the workplace will be made.
